Anomalies, Conformal Manifolds, and Spheres

abstract

We will discuss a continuous family of conformal field theories (conformal manifold) and the metric on this space. This metric appears in a certain anomaly. Sometimes the sphere partition function is ambiguous. In other cases it is meaningful and allows us to compute this metric. This understanding resolves a number of puzzles and leads to new insights about the conformal manifold.
