Gauge/gravity duality offers a new tool to study and perhaps classify ground states of (certain) quantum field theories at finite density. In this talk, we describe some of the new classes of near-horizon geometries of charged black holes that have been discovered in the past few years, and the dual states of holographic matter that they capture.
