"Tabletop AdS/CFT: from black holes to superconductors"

Abstract

The AdS/CFT correspondence may be used to study strongly coupled 2+1 dimensional conformal field theories. Such theories arise at quantum critical points in condensed matter systems. We show how the correspondence sheds light on recent measurements of thermoelectric transport in high-Tc superconductors.
