I will introduce a new framework for the derivation of particular information theoretic quantities (linear combinations of entropies) which are natural from a holographic perspective. I will exemplify the construction by explicitly deriving the tripartite information (the quantity associated to monogamy of mutual information) using purely holographic arguments. Finally I will comment on the various future directions of investigations which are suggested by the new framework.
