Applications of the Average Null Energy Condition

abstract

The average null energy condition states that a certain non-local operator built from the energy-momentum tensor is positive definite. I will review this condition and then discuss some of its applications in conformal field theory. In that context it implies restrictions on OPE coefficients and scaling dimensions of local operators.
