Inflation after Planck and BICEP2

abstract

If it is confirmed and determined to be of cosmological origin, the discovery of B-mode polarization in the cosmic microwave background by BICEP2 marks a huge step forward in our understanding of the early universe. I will discuss some general lessons that can be taken from this discovery when coupled with the data from the Planck satellite. I will also briefly comment on some future measurements which will give us further insight into the physics of inflation.
