abstract

I will summarize and discuss the latest developments relating to the controversial BICEP2 detection of odd-parity, or "B-Mode" polarization in the Cosmic Microwave Background. Recent measurements by the Planck satellite support the conclusion that the BICEP2 measurement is significantly contaminated by a foreground from galactic dust. I will discuss the implications for inflationary cosmology if at least some of the BICEP2 signal is of primordial origin.
