Higgslike Dilatons

abstract

I will discuss the possibility that the resonance at 126 GeV is the dilaton of TeV scale strong conformal dynamics, where conformality is broken spontaneously. The interactions of the dilaton will be derived in a general low-energy effective theory framework, and a discussion of the dilaton mass will ensue, with the purpose of elucidating the tuning required to achieve the necessary (given other constraints) separation between the dilaton mass and the scale of strong dynamics. If time permits, I will also discuss ongoing work on general considerations for the dilaton mass, and potential partial resolutions of the cosmological constant problem.
