Gravity duals of cascading theories: Higgsing and Seiberg dualities

abstract

In this talk I present new solutions of type IIB supergravity with sources, and study their dual field theories. The solutions resemble the ones of Klebanov and Strassler. However, the addition of sources implies some interesting new phenomenon. In addition to the typical cascade of Seiberg dualities, the field theory exhibits also a cascade of Higgsing, that is a sequence of spontaneous gauge symmetry breaking. Such theories could for example be used to understand better the idea of tumbling dynamics which is of interest in the context of dynamical electroweak symmetry breaking.
